Quetzelcoatl
This week, the fourth graders heard the legend of Quetzelcoatl, a god of Aztec and Mayan lore in connection with our Global Education Theme, Ecuador. We discussed this deity's possible forms, described similarly in several South American folktales. One student aptly mused, "Is it a winged serpent, or a scaled bird?" Fourth graders then drew their interpretations of Quetzelcoatl in preparation for making papier mache sculptures next week - so many great imaginings! Keep your eye out here for their progress!
