5th Graders Sketch at The Horse Farm

It was a beautiful morning and students found many things to sketch other than horses.  It seemed to be the breakfast hour and the horses stayed in the doorway munching hay.  This is the start of a mini horse study.

8th Grade Charcoals in Progress

Students enlarged office supplies and rendered them in charcoal.  We looked specifically at some Georgia O'Keefe charcoals and the work drawings of Claus Oldenberg.  These student pieces are quite large.

3rd Grade Olympians

Students discussed the summer olympics and looked at photos of athletes competing.  We used a paper segment body construction technique to construct our athletes.  Here are a few of the competitors.

Show At Brattleboro Museum and Arts Article

I wanted to encourage folks to checkout the show at The Brattleboro Museum of Art.  There are lovely large landscapes by Stephan Hannock and a beautiful show of notable Southern Vermont artists from the George and Kitty Heller collection.  There is even a striking photo by our own Mary Heller-Osgood.  The Hellers are founders of our school and as can be seen from the show have supported local artists through collecting over many years.

Also an interesting article about the role of the arts in keeping the brain healthy.  I hope you have a chance to read it.
